Tahoe Players Lake Tahoe Dance and Theater
Tahoe Players Performing Arts
About Our Theater Company

Tahoe Players Performing Arts Association is a Community Theatrical Company with a primary focus on quality children's theater. The company utilizes actors, singers dancers, and musicians of all ages spanning northern Nevada and California. Tahoe Players productions provide artists with an opportunity to display their talent and work with professionals. The local amateurs are supported by a professional director, choreographer, musical and vocal directors, professional union musicians, set designer and stage manager. This provides an excellent learning opportunity for all involved on the stage, in the audience, and behind the scenes.

In December each year, Tahoe Players puts on a larger than life production on the largest indoor stage in the world. Our theater company has grown to over 150 performers in the 22 seasons we have carried been performing in the Reno / Lake Tahoe area. Over 7,000 students from local schools saw our production last year at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV.

Funding Priorities

Thank you for your interest in Tahoe Players Association.
This is what you can make happen with a grant of $1,000 to $10,000. As of August 2012 our annual funding priorities are:

  1. Producing our winter musical with community members aged 8-80. These performances are attended during field trips for school aged children and teachers reaching 6-8 thousand people consistently for the last 20 years. All shows have anywhere from 50-200 participants and all who audition are invited to participate. Due to the educational benefits of participating in these productions, students are excused from school by the superintendent to perform for school shows. Each production costs $60,000 to $80,000. This covers royalties to the musical, theater rental, rehearsal space, microphone and sound equipment, professional musicians, stage technicians, directors, administrative staff, set designer, costumes, props, and scenery.
  2. Tahoe Players is an organization that has been in operation for 21 years and has never had a building to call “home”. Our impact on the community could be tremendously increased with a space to rehearse, host performances, work with guest and local artists, and hold workshops. With an increase in funding Tahoe Players would be able to offer more education covering all areas of the arts including but not limited to: all forms of dance, music composition, vocal technique and performance, dramatic arts, set design and construction, light design, audio engineering, writing, costuming, stage managing and professional practice in all art forms.
  3. We would like to be able to offer scholarships to students who are unable to afford the materials we do not provide such as, dance shoes, make -up, some costuming, transportation, meals, and script deposit. Monies in this category would also be used to support title one schools’ ability to attend shows.

Call Lilith Baran (775) 831-0379 to talk with her about these exciting grant opportunities. To make a grant from your Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund, call Tracy Turner at (775) 333-5499 or go to www.nevadafund.org.
